I consider that the most important thing I learnt from the text was the taxonomy of learning orientations and the guidelines for the creation of webpages which we expanded in class. It was really impressive to see how the things enumerated there were so useful to create a e-learning environment. Specially which refers to the sequencing methods and content structuring.

Which I find challenging is the task of creating an environment that allows all kind of students to reach their learning goals. It also seems to be a difficult to reorganize the in order to present all the kind of tasks that are needed -for example from Bloom- without creating an excessively enormous page that may get to be boring.

I didn't know that creating a web page could be so complex. There are many aspects that a designer has to take into account to develop a good, useful and challenging web site.

As designers, learners and teachers we have to be careful with so many aspects regarding not only the colors, the titles and images but also in the content and the message we are sending to our students. Nevertheless this process involves a huge effort respecting the metholodogy we use and the context in which the learners live

    1. From this text, I learned that designing effective computer based learning is not an easy task because it implies not only to develop a lot of knowledge about how to use computers and the different programs that allow the creation of Learning Environments, but also, to have into account learner’s inclinations to learn or perform. It is necessary to build an attractive learning context to the students according to their needs and motivations, which is may be more important than the confidence in technology itself, to get effective learning.

    2. In Colombian schools, there is not so much alphabetization in the use of technologies specially for teachers, besides, resources like computers are not so implemented in all schools; if we add the fact that the lack of expertise generates certain apathy towards the new technologies and that in most classrooms the amount of students is high, it can be said that for me, there are two challenges: To be able to know how to use the different possibilities to create a learning environment with computers, specially the management of this kind of equipment and the corresponding softwares to do so; and the success in meeting the needs for learners from different groups. However, I think, a lifetime ahead in the field of teaching is going to allow me to learn how to use technology, as well as the patience and commitment to be able to have into account big groups of students’ interests and needs, the best way possible. I think with TICS class, I have started to get the self interest to implement technology linked to my own classes and the classes that I prepare to my students.

For the design of learning environments is necessary to consider the students' academic, emotional and social context and thus encourage learner's processes integrating existing and new knowledge.

I consider that the text is good, because, is very important desing environments of learning for the students. A page web could have many tools, for make more easy the learning.

    Richard Martínez (lunes, 24 febrero 2014 14:54)

What I learnt from this reading is at the same time the most challenging of it. Based on the text the designing of a computer based learning environment requires hard work, a well-structured project, a lot of time to work in it and the most important of all: take into consideration all the needs of all the students.

And this is most important part and the challenge at the same time because, as the text expresses itself, there are a lot of different students and ways of how they learn, the challenge is how to create an environment able to fulfill the variety of needs of every student and make the activities attractive and enjoyable for all of them. Also it is important that the students work and learn at the same pace. It is a complex enterprise but at the same time an opportunity to improve, to learn and innovate in all our teaching practices.

In this reading, it caught my attention, as Richard said, that to design a learning environment is a real challenge, it is no easy to satisfy all students’ needs but it is our role as teachers, to search and implement new strategies and activities that take into account individual learning differences. It is that Martínez proposes in her “whole-person perspective” and the four learning orientations. All students are different: each one learns in a different way; therefore, they have different interests, different needs and different inclinations to learn or perform, and we as teachers must design activities that are addressed to those different ways of learning. It is no easy, but it is the best way for students' learning.

The environments of learning discussed in the reading are very important for that it supports the development of the personal interests adopting a range of strategies to supply the new educational designs and the suitable employment of the new technologies.

the discussion about the learning environments is really useful as to get a better one.
First, it is not easy to create, apply and evaluate one of them, each one has specific requirements to be developed according to the population they are created for.
second, the person in charge has to take into account different variables related to the population. it means, it is not just create a web page with his/her own perspectives, but also with the users`perspective.
Third, this tool is usefull for everybody because it permits them to get close to some techonological advances. However, we have to keep in mind the availability people have to get contact with this tool. (context).
fourth, if I have a complex population, I will have several trobles with the information I use, that is why maybe this kind of pedagogical help can not be totally useful, or maybe yes but I have to be improving it all the time.

Martinez article provides a panorama about the elements that as teachers and designers we have to take into account in order to create learning environments set in a real or plausible context; our challenge is to generate effective strategies and tools that can foster a process of learning without ignore the specific needs and characteristics of the learning community.

    1. I learnt from this text that designing a computer based learning enviroment requires a complete analysis not only on the contents we will be working on but also on the how they are going to be presented as well as the population it will be implemented on. All the previous elements must be amornized in such a perfect way that learning be achieved considering student's contexts, their needs and personal perspectives.
These are the main reasons why is a complex but not impossible work which requiers a good preparation and a good variety of activities to work on

    2. It's challenging for me from this text to accomodate a whole person perspective because most of the schools have large classes with students from different contexts and with different intelligences. What might be interesting for a student can turn into something really boring for another. That's why I think previous and careful analysis of the popullation is a must for creating a computer based learning enviroment as well as developing tolerance among students for them to recognize each person is different and we must be respecteful among each other.

I learnt from this text, that it is very important to create learning environment based on computer design where you can include and innovate some strategies to achieve easy learning goals it needs to include activities that permit to analyze, and resolve problems in a creativity way. Therefore it permits to focus on the student`s interests.
Maybe my biggest challenge is learning how to use the different tools because I have never seen or received any guide however I hope to convert this space into a teaching in tool.

    Solangy Rodriguez (lunes, 23 febrero 2015 16:55)

What did you learn from this text? I learnt that it is absolutely necessary take into account uncountable little details as culture, needs, interests, likes, abilities, the different approaches etc. at the moment of create a website. I also realized that accommodate a whole person perspective is not easy due to the different realities that Colombian children live.

For me it is challenging to find the balance in the different proposal and to equilibrate de articulation of the four in the final project, because ones does not have enough information or are not clear.

    Carol Román (lunes, 23 febrero 2015 17:29)

I learn from this text that if you want to create a good page in internet you have to put together all the abilities taking to account the types of the four learning orientations and the gender. Due to you engage the attention of people and you could teach the language in a really good way.

For this reason, the challenging that I recognize from this text is involve all the information about the different types of people and make a page interacting for everybody, no to bored but also avoiding challenge too much the user of it. For example, a page that have cartoons for indicate the way that you should use the page with sound, but if you prefer just the sound, you can eliminate the cartoons and just listening the instructions.

    Catalina Melguizo (lunes, 23 febrero 2015 17:49)

I learnt from this text that is absolutely important to take into account learners needs, interests and cognitives differences in order to design educational environments that could be effective for learning processes. Those environments must include different learners ways to learn in order to create activities and instructions that allows learners achieve proposed goals.

Because of the previous reasons, it is challenging for us as teachers and designers to include in the same web page, interests, needs, cognitive purposes and learning objectives that can be effective in the learnig-teaching process.

    Jairo García (lunes, 23 febrero 2015 18:54)

    1. I learnt from this text that the design of web learning enviroments is a task that requires a lot of guidelines, because the task is not only to create a web site with a lot of activities with the propose that students must fill it to only get a grade. As a teachers we shoud take into account the needs of learners, likes and dislikes, access to computers and internet, and also as a task for us, trying to reinforce reflections about the heritage whatever be the place; in our case of Colombia.

    2. The most challeging from this text is "promote emotionally sound learning". For me is too hard create and share content that generates in the learners positive and negative emotions because the information or content that can be offensive for some people can be funny or stupid for others.

    1. What did you learn from this text?

With the text, I learnt that is pretty important planning and the design before of creating a virtual environment or educational tool, like the objective of the class. It is easy for many students, unaccommodating, they think that the important in the creation of this kind of tool, is only the innovation and the attractive. Where really we must take time for studying carefully: the topic, the possibilities, the necessities and interests of a specific population. Doing this previous study, will allow us have solid objectives and useful, for the learning and good impact on the population chosen.

Valentina Ordóñez Leyton (lunes, 23 febrero 2015 22:13)

For me the most challenging is meeting the needs of learners from different groups. I consider this like the most challenging, because, first is hard establish what are the real needs of our learners and more difficult to find the way for connect these needs with our proposals and goals for the class. Finally, the choice of a topic who can solve these needs in an appropriate way, is also a hard task.

    Jennifer Romero (martes, 24 febrero 2015 05:51)

what I could learn from this text is the four learning orientations which help us to design learning environment with different students and they have opportunities for success.
also, how the sound generates positive feelings and and is also a tool for instruction.
due to that, my challenge is include in my web page, needs and cognitive purposes for my students in order to help us to achieve in the best way the goal of the class.

The design of this type of resources allows me to structure scenes of learning according to the needs of the students so much to level of group as individually.
It is important that a teacher training does not leave of side any processes and strategies that might serve in the educational practice.
Sometimes it is a challenge to mix the standards established with the design of activities that generate motivation and are according to the needs of the students, due to the fact that in occasions there limit themselves the contents and the materials that the college offers.

    Estefanía Agudelo (miércoles, 25 febrero 2015 04:41)

The most important thing I learnt form this text is the fact to take into account the computer based learning environment and the computer-based learning experience that has to include the great four learning orientations. The challenge is the computer based learning environments' assessment because we can find many of them but most of those environments outlooks some key aspects, especially the adaption of a whole person perspective.

David Camilo Contreras Prieto (miércoles, 25 febrero 2015 06:19)

    1. The authors in the text provide an important overview on working with technological resources in a class. It is important to keep in mind that a good class supported by different digital resources is as well companied by a well design lesson. Key elements such as: Taking into account the kinds of learners, the emotional barriers that might exist, the way of assessment and feedback provided to the student, make possible student center learning.

    2. As it seems that our classrooms day by day are evolving into a superlab, closely related to a micro-world, our task as teachers is to tackle the problems between the relation of the students and knowledge. It seems hard to convey in a meaningful use of this tools as aspects such as, genderless or non-stereotypical content is hard to find. Also is hard to overcome difficulties associated to physical or cognitive problems, but is important to be curious with tools in our software that enhance the experience for this kind of users/students.

well I learnt in this reading the idea of a whole person perspective. it is true that in class we take into account the different profiles students have and we prepare the class having on mind the student's needs but sometimes I don`t mind in profiles that are not so common so the reading shows four profiles that help me to prepare or recognize the a litle be the students reality.

In real classes we try to promote a learning environment appropiated to all our educational population. It seems to be complicated with the diversity that we have nowadays in the same context of study. In those terms how can we do it with a computer based learning environtment? This is what is for me very challenging about this stand. Actually, I have not noticed that its possible to create a computer based learning environtment that could fulfill all the educational necesities that our student have. And this is exactly what calls my attention on this text: The possibility to promote a new learning experience on our students within the help of the ICTs.

    1. Nowadays technology plays an important role in our society, the use of internet or technological devices in a classroom is becoming popular. That's why the constant devolopment of apps, websites and virtual classrooms allows teachers try different tools in their lessons. Furthermore in order to create useful resources it is necesary to take into consideration the context and conditions of the possible population that is going to be benefited. Every new tool used in classroom must be developed thinking in the students and their learning preferences.
    2. In Colombian the most challenging aspect in regards to the use of technology in class is the acess of it in the different context that Colombia has. Eventhough in Colombia the government is constantly working on guarantee to the population the accessibility of technology and Internet there are failures on this process that stuck and do not allow generate the expected impact of internet in the Colombian education system.

    Jessica Linares (martes, 16 febrero 2016 20:22)

I think that the most important thing I learned from the text is related with the different characteristics listed along it, specially these that are related to the content, structure, type of activities and so on, that are necessary to create effective computer based learning enviroments. All these aspects become as very useful tools that allow the creation of enviroments that propose the development of knowledge but taking into account the importance of the students and their contexts.
In the same hand, it is important to affirm that a great challenge from this text is the idea to create a only computer based learning enviroment that could gather the different characteristics that are necessary for all type of students can have a successful learning and metacognitive process.

Each of the features to consider when designing computer based learning environments helps to improve the the teaching/learning process of students by facilitating the role of the teacher through new technologies such as blogs, social networking platforms and virtual classrooms. By "accommodating a whole person perspective", for example, allows to design based on the different contexts of people, their different perspectives which allows to transform the students positively. Educational design is also important because it is the key to "Encouraging rich and active learning." Designing computer based learning environments also will reveal the needs of different groups in the contemporary school to be able to develop designs based on those needs.

  • #36

Andrés Felipe Micán Castiblanco (martes, 16 febrero 2016 21:24)

This text is useful to reflect on the idea of educational design and how we as educators have to consider different factors such as students’ needs, interests and motivations when teaching and designing computer based learning environments. It is important to keep in mind the "whole person perspective" understanding which is also related with the perspective of multiple intelligences proposed by Howard Gardner.
Secondly, we need to be aware of the importance of looking at others as complex beings who are in constant change. Sometimes, because of the inherent circumstances of private and public schools, we forgot that our mission is not simply to fill formats or follow a syllabus rather to accompany, facilitate and guide our students. The reading reminds us we need to promote an active, authentic and students' centered learning process that takes into account their needs, interests and initiatives.
Finally, it is challenging to me that idea of creating a platform that could satisfy a large number of students. What can we do if our classes have more than 35 students? How can we deal with different perspectives, interests and needs? And what about being or working in an institution that does not count with all the technological devices?
A possible answer to this question could be found in our own experiences as learners. We know what satisfies us and what does not. Therefore, our responsibility as “teachers” is just a mix of creativity and effective learning under the scope of passion for what we do.

First of all, I have to confess that technology is one of the areas where I have more difficulties, I do not know many things about this and when I am trying to develop activities by computer, I get lost. Also, I have a lot of problems with following instructions; then, most of the time when I have to do something on internet or only in my computer, I start to do what I think is right and my process is more about making mistakes and solving them by my own. After this, I think is clear that for me everything about technology is too challenging. However, the text gave me a lot of ideas about how to design computer based learning environments easier and more attractive for people like me. Additionally, the text made me realize that maybe my frustration with technology is because I have never had the opportunity to work or learn in an adapted environment for people who do not have skills in this area.

Viviana Molina Rosas (miércoles, 17 febrero 2016 09:36)

    1. The main idea I learned when I read the text was the importance of recognizing the needs of learners to create a motivating environment from technological spaces, where students and teachers can have a constant interaction with technological tools. The text brings to my teaching guidelines necessary to foster the relationship of learning with technology. The text offers me different models that help me avoid errors when using technological tools when I teach my students. for me at school, technology should be used as a means for students to generate meaningful learning through games and activities to their liking
    2. I feel that my students have more skill for new technologies. And I must be in a constant feedback to realize the technology available to suit your tastes and so I could use these tools to motivate their learning. So my goal is always informed and enable me to know how to use properly the different technological tools offered by evolution, also I help my students to use these tools properly so they give beneficial use.

    1. I learnt that designing a computer based learning environment involves many factors that are essential for an effective learning process. Factors such as learner’s inclinations to learn and perform are very important as the content that is going to be exposed has to suit the different preferences students have and their needs. Also, for a more meaningful learning it is important to take into account the students cognitive, affective, social and cultural development. Finally it is important to design a computer based learning environment that promotes and supports the active participation of the student.
    2. Bearing in mind that all the students have different ways of learning and performing, it is hard to design a computer based learning environment that
can supply all the students’ needs. Though, it is interesting to challenge myself to think about the most suitable learning environment that can supply the needs of the majority.

This text help us to understand the importance of computer learning environments according to some models and guidelines review. Taking into account that Computer learning environments are increased these days, teachers need to know and manage this sort of environment that sometimes seems to be an exclusive way to learn individually. I find that some students attend to the english class and do not work properly because they can find everything on internet and learn better. I know that autonomous learning could begin from that way but when I found these situation sometimes it is difficult to deal with them. So, I consider that it is necessary to know and understand the computer learning environment to design and create an effective computer-based learning in the english classroom .

The most important point when you decide create learning environments is the population and understand that every person is a different world, for that reason, we as teacher need to know the social and cultural environments around student. The computer based learning allow that students have an active participation in the class and a motivation by other types of learning.
